South Africa National Parks and Reserves
South Africa national parks are home to the “Big 5” and many other species. the most well know is Kruger National Park, and the luxury private game reserves that surround it. there are also malaria free areas like Madikwe and Addo Elephant Park to explore
Addo Elephant National Park
Home to over 350 elephants, this National Park is also home to the “Big 5” Recently it has been expanded south to the Indian Ocean and now covers over 1 million acres.
Kruger National Park
South Africa’s most well know and largest national park, attracting over 2 million visitors a year. Recently it has been expanded north to form the Limpopo Transfrontier Park with Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Kruger Area Private Game Reserves
Next to Kruger National Park, are several large private game reserves, such as Mala Mala and Sabi Sands. They accommodate relatively few guests in small luxury safari lodges, where you view the “Big 5” in open vehicles by day and night, and track wildlife on foot.
Phinda Game Reserve
Phinda is a large private game reserves south of Kruger near Kwazulu-Natal. It’s 56,000 acres are home to the “Big 5” and more. You can also explore on foot and go on night game drives, or visit the Indian Ocean.
